Yes, but moderate. Waves 0.3–1.2 m, sandy beach breaks. Ideal for beginners and families. For more powerful conditions, go to Saint-Gilles (30 km south) or Île d'Yeu. Kitesurfing is more suited here thanks to regular SW winds.

Pornic castle (also known as Bluebeard's castle) dates from the 12th century and is said to have belonged to Gilles de Rais, Joan of Arc's companion who became a serial killer. It overlooks the port. Not open to the public inside (private property) but magnificent from the outside.
