Can you surf in Marseille?

Yes, but waves are generally small (0.3–0.8 m). In strong sea wind (SE, 25–40 km/h) or exceptional swell, waves of 0.5–1.5 m form on S/SW beaches. La Madrague and Les Catalans are the best exposed. It is primarily the Provençal capital of kitesurfing and windsurfing.

Departures from the ports of Callelongue (closest calanque, 10 min by car from Prado), Sormiòu or Morgiùu. Kayak rental on site. Regulated access in summer (application form for distant Calanques). Sea can be very rough in mistral.
